Unintentional injury is the number one killer of America’s children, with 40 percent of childhood deaths resulting from unintentional injuries in and around the home. Unintentional injuries to children are also responsible for 6.9 million trips to the emergency room each year.
Adult supervision is the best way to prevent childhood injuries.
As children grow and enter new stages of development, their environment can present new dangers. Childproofing is an ongoing task that serves to increase the amount of time it takes for children to get into dangerous situations. Childproofing cannot replace adult supervision.
