Florida Statute 409.147 specifically creates a within the Liberty City neighborhood in Miami-Dade County a 10-year project to be managed by Miami Children’s Initiative, Inc., a nonprofit corporation to be housed within the Department of Children and Families. The Ounce of Prevention Fund is responsible for developing a business plan and conducting evaluation, fiscal management and project oversight for the Miami Children’s Initiative. The Ounce of Prevention Fund will provide support to the project lead, the Miami-Dade County Commission, to establish a planning team, develop a strategic community plan and file paperwork to create the nonprofit corporation.
